Hartberg must adapt to new rules to combat time-wasting. The changes will take effect from next season. The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has agreed on the planned adjustments. Officially, these will take effect at the latest on June 1. This means that the changes could already be applied at the World Cup. Since the start of the season, goalkeepers have been subject to the eight-second rule to speed up the game. This principle will now be extended to other situations. In the future, throw-ins and goal kicks will be performed within a predetermined time frame. If this is exceeded, an immediate sanction will follow: In the case of a throw-in or goal kick, the opposing team will be awarded a corner kick, while the throw-in right will change. The last five seconds will be visible to the referee, while the start of the countdown will remain at his discretion. Player substitutions are also in focus. The player to be substituted will have ten seconds to leave the field in the future. If he exceeds the deadline, the substituted player must first wait at the edge before entering the field. It is unclear whether he will be allowed to enter the field at the next break or a fixed waiting time will apply.
